The first time we the team met in person, it kinda hit me that Andrew and I are both introverts and we hired three extroverts. I don’t know if that’s a coincidence but it’s interesting to think about. Are extroverts better at selling themselves? Did we unconsciously hire people who are very different from ourselves? Maybe opposites do attract!
I came from a job where I was usually the quietest person in the room. Maybe it was because I always felt the most junior so I was afraid to express my opinions. Even though it was my job to have an opinion. It didn’t help that I was on a team largely consisting of extroverted men. Now that I have a team, I need to be a leader. Sometimes, I need to be the loudest in the room. It’s terrifying to think about but it’s actually getting easier. I’ve kind of carved out a space where I’m comfortable and confident with my opinions. It’s kind of nice.
The experience of being a founder has helped me grow in many ways. Through all the tough times, I don't think there's any other experience that would've brought me here today. More to come.
