@basilesamel's post on excuses to not write highlights the fact that the vast majority of excuses holding us back are no more than paper tigers we can blow away or step on with ease. This is true when it comes to writing, as well as many other aspects of life. Even if the challenge does seem grand, it's mostly a pile of paper tigers you can pick off and the entire pile will eventually crumble.

What holds us back is an idea. An idea we treat as a real obstacle that's impossible to overcome. But a shift in perspective can make the obstacle disappear.

"Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals."

If you look back on your goal and focus on what you want to achieve: how will you get there?

Some obstacles can be ignored because they're not standing in our way. We put them in our way, maybe out of fear of failure or personal doubts.

Other obstacles we can acknowledge to be in our way, but there is a solution to them, whether it's by changing how we think about them or finding a way to overcome them.

What's standing in your way? How will you overcome it?

The closer you look and the deeper you delve, the more you will realize there is a solution to every excuse you encounter.

What's holding you back?
