Three months ago, I wrote about how I joined Instagram. It was a way for me to keep myself accountable to improving my art. At that point, I had less than 1,000 followers. Getting to that milestone took a few months.
Yesterday, I hit 20,000 followers on Instagram. Honestly, it's pretty wild. 20,000 people like the art that I create enough to follow me to see more. It's very motivating for me to hear that I inspire others.
Here are just some random thoughts.
My art has improved
I've been drawing for about six months now. When I scroll back through my feed, I can clearly see how much I've improved.
Even just the amount of time it takes me to finish a piece has dropped pretty dramatically. My first post took me about ten hours to finish. Today, my average time is probably around three hours. I've even completed a couple one hour challenges.
I'm very excited to see where I'll be in another six months.
Character design is tough
I designed my first character for this common challenge on Instagram called a "draw this in your style challenge". I'm completely self taught so maybe that's why I felt so lost.
